Financial Aid

English · Español

At Cupertino FC, we shape tomorrow’s leaders through athletics, and we want every player who earns a spot to be able to take it, whatever their family’s budget. Each season we set aside part of our budget for financial aid. Applying is free and private, and it never affects tryouts, team placement or playing time.

Who can get help

Any family registering a player through Competitive Enrollment can apply if either of these is true:

  • Someone in your household gets CalFresh, CalWORKs, Medi-Cal, WIC, SSI, or Section 8 or public housing, or your player is in foster care or gets homeless student services.
  • Your household’s total income last year, before taxes, is within the limits below.

Over the limits but going through a hard time, such as a job loss or medical bills? Please apply anyway and tell us about it.

What you pay

You pay a share of tuition, based on your household’s income:

If you’re on one of the programs above, you pay 10%, whatever your income. For example, a family of four earning $95,000 pays 25% of tuition.

These are Santa Clara County’s income limits from the State of California, and we update them each year. Your share is of the price after any other discounts. Aid covers tuition only, not uniforms or optional events. Nothing is due until we process your application, and you pay your share in monthly payments.

How to apply

1. Fill in the Competitive Enrollment form and choose “I am applying for financial aid.”
2. On the next page, answer a few questions about your household. No payment is needed.
3. We’ll email you to ask for one document: a benefits letter, page 1 of your tax return, or recent pay stubs.

Apply by May 1 to keep the Early Commitment price. Aid is limited, so please apply early. Want help with the form? Call us at 408-673-8414.

What happens next

  • Your spot is held while we review your application
  • The Treasurer and the Director decide, in private, within 10 days of receiving your document.
  • We email you your share, your payment dates and a link to pay.
  • Not happy with the decision? Reply within 14 days to ask us to look again. Someone who wasn’t part of the first decision will review it.

Good to know

  • It’s private. Only the club staff who handle aid see your application. Coaches and team managers are never told who gets aid. See our Privacy Policy.
  • It’s fair. We decide without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or immigration status. We never ask about immigration status.
  • It’s limited. Aid depends on the funds available each season and isn’t guaranteed, so please apply early. After any appeal, the club’s decision is final.
  • It’s for one season. Please apply again each year.
  • It depends on accurate information. We may check what you tell us. If something turns out to be untrue, the aid ends and the rest of the regular tuition is due.
  • Your share follows our Competitive Enrollment terms, including payment dates and refunds. Aid lowers payments still due, not ones already made.
  • Earlier balances come first. If you owe the club from an earlier season, please pay it or set up a payment plan before new aid starts.
  • This policy may change. The version in place when you apply is the one that applies to you.

Questions

Will my child’s coach know? No. Coaches and team managers are never told, and aid never affects tryouts, team placement or playing time.
Does it cost anything to apply? No. Applying is free, and nothing is due until we send you our decision.

We’re a little over the limits. Should we apply? Yes, if you’re going through a hard time, such as a job loss or medical bills. Tell us about it in the application and we’ll see how we can help.

We have more than one child in the club. Choose financial aid on each child’s registration, and mention your other children when you tell us why you’re asking. You only need to send proof once.

What proof will you ask for? Just one of these: a current letter from one of the programs above, page 1 of last year’s tax return, or the two latest pay stubs for each working adult. Please black out Social Security and account numbers. We never need them, and we delete documents once we decide.

How do we pay our share? Use the link in our decision email. Your payment page shows your payment dates and the ways you can pay.

What if our situation changes during the season? Email us, even if you didn’t apply before. We’ll look at what we can do.

Do we need to apply every year? Yes. Aid is for one season, so apply again each year, by May 1 if you can.
